About
I am currently a cognitive psychology doctoral student at Kent State. I completed my undergraduate work at Albion College in Michigan with a B.A. in psychology and a neuroscience concentration. While I was at Albion, I worked on several independent projects spanning topics in memory, metacognition, collaborative problem solving, and learning strategies.
Upon graduating cum laude with High Honors, I accepted a research position in Dr. Charles Perfetti's reading and language lab at the University of Pittsburgh's Learning Research and Development Center. For two years, I provided assistance and collaborative efforts on word learning and writing system differences using behavioral and ERP methodologies.
Currently, I am working with Drs. John Dunlosky and Katherine Rawson on several projects related to promoting student learning. In particular, I am focused on evaluating the efficacy of certain study strategies, and applying cognitive psychology theory into educational settings. One of the ways I want to explore applications of cognitive psychology in the classroom is via cognitive technologies and tutoring systems that will train metacognitive skills. The implications of this research may be appropriate for high-stakes testing and STEM learning.
When I'm not in the lab, I love to explore art museums, cook, jam to classic and progressive rock, and browse vintage clothing shops.
